Dojo vs Teya 2026: UK Card Machine Comparison
Run a cafe, pub, restaurant or busy shop and you've probably had a Dojo or Teya rep pop in already. They chase the same customers, both pay you the next day and both offer funding. Where they really differ is pricing: one publishes it, one doesn't. We checked both UK pricing pages in October 2026.

Fees compared
Transaction fees
Dojo is unusual among hospitality providers in publishing a rate: 1.2% blended for all card types if you take below £100,000 a year on cards. Above that, Dojo quotes.
Teya publishes no rate. It says it looks at your volume, sector and average transaction, then quotes. That can work in your favour if you negotiate, but you need a written quote to compare. Teya's FAQ confirms one fixed rule: if you want settlement to a bank other than Teya, it adds 0.10% (10 basis points) to your transaction fees.
How to compare: ask Teya for a quote, then work out your total monthly cost on a typical month and divide by your card takings. If the result is below 1.2% (and you're under £100,000 a year), Teya is cheaper on fees.
Monthly costs
Dojo's Essential plan is free; Plus adds benchmarking, customer insights and remote refunds. Teya doesn't publish monthly fees on its pricing page.
Hardware compared
Reader prices
Dojo publishes hardware prices: Pocket £149 upfront (shown reduced from £229) or £25 a month, Wired £239 upfront or £20 a month. Teya doesn't publish hardware prices, but says machines are delivered within 48 hours, set up in five minutes, and covered by a lifetime warranty including theft and water damage.
Both support split bills and custom tipping, which matter for table service. Dojo also highlights pre authorisation for bar tabs. Teya highlights more than 200 EPOS integrations.
Payouts and support
Settlement times
Both pay next day. Teya specifically says settlement lands in the Teya Business Account the next day, even on weekends. Dojo says you get your takings next day.
Support
Dojo advertises UK support with an expert in about 30 seconds. Teya advertises 24/7 UK based support by phone, WhatsApp and email.
Worked monthly cost examples
Dojo publishes its rate and Teya doesn't, so the fairest comparison is to show Dojo's cost and the figure a Teya quote must beat. Figures checked October 2026; hardware excluded.
| Monthly card takings | Annual turnover | Dojo | What a Teya quote must beat |
|---|---|---|---|
| £2,000 | £24,000 | £24.00 (1.2%) | Under £24.00, or under 1.1% if you settle to another bank (because Teya adds 0.10%) |
| £10,000 | £120,000 | Custom rate | Compare against Dojo's custom quote |
| £30,000 | £360,000 | Custom rate | Compare against Dojo's custom quote |
Above £100,000 a year (about £8,300 a month), both providers quote. That is where the best savings are, because you can ask each to beat the other. Bring a recent statement showing your card mix to both meetings.
Example: a cafe at £2,000 a month
On Dojo, fees are £24 a month. If you buy the Dojo Pocket outright for £149, your first year costs £288 in fees plus £149 hardware. A Teya quote would need to come in below that total, including any hardware or monthly charges Teya applies, to be cheaper in year one.
Example: a restaurant at £30,000 a month
At this level, a difference of 0.1% is worth £30 a month or £360 a year. Ask both for blended and card type rates, and check whether either charges monthly fees on top.
Dojo vs Teya for different businesses
Cafe
Both are designed for cafes. Dojo's published rate makes budgeting easy; Teya's cashback debit card (0.5%) can offset some costs if you spend through the Teya account.
Restaurant and pub
Dojo's pre authorisation for tabs and EPOS bill splitting are strong. Teya's 200+ EPOS integrations and lifetime warranty are strong too. Ask both which integrations work with your till.
Hairdresser
Either can work, but neither is the obvious salon choice. Consider Square if you want built in booking.
Market stall and food trucks
Both offer 4G devices. Teya mentions market stalls specifically. For seasonal trading, check any monthly charges or minimum terms before signing.
Trades and taxi
Neither is primarily aimed at mobile trades or drivers. A no contract reader is usually simpler. See our guide to card readers for taxi drivers.
Setup and contract tips
- Get two quotes in the same week. Use each to negotiate with the other.
- Ask about terms and exit fees. Dojo offers a 30 day rolling plan for larger accounts; ask Teya for its terms in writing.
- Decide on banking. Using Teya's business account avoids the 0.10% surcharge but means another account to manage.
- Use buyout offers. Dojo offers up to £3,000 to cover your current provider's exit fees.
- Test at peak time. Ask for a demo device and try it during a busy service.

Reporting and insights
Dojo's Plus plan adds weekly AI powered performance snapshots, benchmarking against competitors and new versus returning customer tracking, drawing on what Dojo describes as a dataset of 49 million UK cardholders. Teya offers real time insights and reports in its app and portal. If data on your customers matters to you, Dojo Plus is the more developed option, but it costs extra after any introductory offer.
Money management
Teya puts your takings in its business account with a 0.5% cashback debit card. If you run your business finances through a high street bank and don't want another account, factor in Teya's 0.10% surcharge for settling elsewhere. Dojo pays to your existing account.
Which should you choose?
Choose Dojo if you want a published, predictable rate today without negotiating, you take under £100,000 a year, or you're tied into a contract Dojo could buy out.
Choose Teya if you're happy to negotiate, want a business account, cashback debit card and cash advance in one place, and value the lifetime hardware warranty.
Our tip: get a Teya quote and compare it against Dojo's 1.2%. Include the 0.10% Teya surcharge if you'll settle to another bank.
